What does a FAITHkids service look like?
Each week starts with the Lesson Plan we provide – which has details on any supplies or special setup you’ll need for games or object lessons.
Before the service, you’ll load the Keynote or PowerPoint slide deck on your computer or device. Keynote is the presenter application available free from Apple for all Macs and iOS devices. PowerPoint runs on Windows and MacOS. If you’re using an iOS device (iPod, iPhone, iPad), you’ll also want an Apple TV device to Airplay to your projector or TV display. These units are simple to connect and use. You can connect your Mac and Windows PC to your display directly. We’re happy to talk with you through any technical questions you might have!
There’s a lot going on in a FAITHkids service. The time goes fast and quickly transitions between worship, teaching, videos, games, and object lessons.
The slide decks are high resolution – 1080p. The files are big, but they look great on your projector or display. The animation (you’ll see we’re fans of visual movement!), teaching and worship videos, and background music are embedded right in the slides; all you have to do is advance from slide to slide. Everything is automatic. You can drive the slide show from your device from the front while you’re teaching, or have someone else drive it from the back of the room.
If you do small group discussions as part of your Children’s services, you’ll want to use the included worksheets to facilitate discussions, or send them home with parents to facilitate discussion during the week.
The most important principle is that you, the teacher, do the teaching. We’ve tried video teachings/sermons, and we’ve found it’s too easy for the kids to tune them out. But when you’re teaching them in person, looking at their faces, they’re better at paying attention and the knowledge you’re imparting stays with them much longer. Our whole focus is kids’ relationships with their Heavenly Father. There’s no one more suited to instill these truths in them than you!
You can also customize the FAITHkids service however you want. If you have a live worship band, simply remove the worship video slides from the Keynote slide deck. If you prefer to do the offering at a different time in the service, move the offering slides to the appropriate place. It’s that simple!
